History

Shannon MicroCoilShannon MicroCoil is owned and managed by John Walsh, Eamonn Barrett and Shirley Walsh with a combined experience in the spring industry of over 100 years.

The business grew out of Shannon Coiled Springs Ltd. which was formed in 1978 in a 2500 sq feet building. Shannon MicroCoil now occupies a purpose built 25,000 square feet building on a 5 acre site. The organisation has over 40 staff in Ireland with a subsidiary in the UK employing 35 people.

Shannon Coiled Springs had been supplying the medical device sector with wire forms for many years. As the sector grew, so did the demand from our customer base for more technically relevant products such as guide wire coils, marker coils and coiled stent forms. In response to this SCS decided to invest in new technology and set up a specialist business unit with its own quality system to deal with the specific requirements of the medical device sector. Hence, Shannon MicroCoil was formed in 2005 and has been growing steadily ever since. The company was ISO 13485 certified in 2007. The customer base for Shannon MicroCoil is broad: From global medical device companies to small R&D groups – we enjoy working with all.

Clients now include global players in the Medical Devices space. See here for client testimonials and read real Case Studies here.
